the higher priority they will give to adapt their iOS application to Mac

Introducing the Mac with touchscreens will not change the Mac's status as a mouse-first operating system, but will offer alternate input modes and provide better compatibility with some iOS applications. technologyify

Imagine if Apple made 2-in-1 computers like Windows' convertibles or detachable computers, with a screen that could be wrapped around the back to temporarily make it more iPad-like.

Many users would love a laptop that can be transformed into a tablet from time to time, but the applications must be there. worldbeautytips

What users can do

Developers have it difficult. They've spent the summer struggling with some major changes to macOS Big Sur, in addition to the transition to Apple's Mac M1s. They deserve your respect and courtesy.

That said, if there's an iOS app that you love that isn't available on Mac, it's worth politely contacting that developer. Explain to them why you want to be able to run that application on your Mac and why it is a necessary adaptation. technologyford

The more demand they have, the higher priority they will give to adapt their iOS application to Mac.

Another thing to keep in mind: every iOS developer is a Mac user, because the only way to develop iOS apps is to use Xcode. This means that most iOS developers will not look down on Mac users, as they are users too. techiesin

It's easy to forget that iOS and iPad OS developers are Mac users too.  Finally, we all need to be patient. It's the early days of the Apple Silicon chip in Macs.

I've talked to a few developers who have been working to bring their iOS apps to Mac since the initial Mac Catalyst announcement in Summer 2019, and they're still working.

The first version of Catalyst was limited and many of them expected the Big Sur version. It takes time to get it right. I'm sure there are more apps on the way. But we all need a little patience. technologyies

Still, listen developers: If your application works fine on Mac and there is no great business reason to prevent Mac users from using it, why not check that box? Your customers will most likely thank you.
